About the Production Room
In the Production Room, students can record and edit videos in whichever way suits them best. With the equipment that the space has to offer, students can make videos quickly and easily; or they can spend more time on their videos, and deliver a remarkably professional final product.
Recording Videos
With the equipment available in the Production Room, you should have no trouble recording scenes for your video projects. The room features a large green screen and an abundance of lighting equipment, which can be used to take your shots to the next level. Below are some ways to record video in the Production Room and wherever else you might need to film.
iPhone
If you just want to film something quickly and easily, an iPhone is a great go-to device. You can use the built-in camera app or download specific video apps from the App Store to shoot whatever kind of video you want.
iPad
If you do not have an iPhone, but you still want to record videos quickly and easily, the Production Room is equipped with an iPad that has a number of apps that are compatible with the room's green screen walls.
Canon VIXIA HF R800
One of the Production Room's more advanced filming options is this handheld Canon camera. The camera's quality is excellent for a smaller device, and it is still easy to transport files from this device to a computer for editing.
Canon XF100
The room's most professional option is the Canon XF100. This camera easily captures video of impressive quality. The room also has various microphones that can be attached to this camera for excellent audio as well.
Green Screen & iPad Apps
Green Screen
Created by Do Ink, Green Screen is an app that lets you transform a green screen into the background of your choice. You can edit previously captured green screen footage, or you can change the background of your shot as you are filming.

GIPHY CAM is an app that makes creating unique GIFs easy. The app includes a number of built-in effects that can be used to film the most creative GIFs you can think of. Using GIPHY CAM in conjunction with Green Screen might give you some fun results.

Editing Videos
After capturing all of your necessary footage, the next step is editing. There are a number of programs that you can use to edit your videos, all of which are available on the computers in the Computer Lab. Below, you will find descriptions for each of these editing programs, as well as some links to help you get started in each of them.
iMovie
iMovie is a free video editing program available on all computers in the Mac Lab. If you are looking to edit something quickly, and it does not need to look completely professional, iMovie is a great program to use.

Adobe Premiere Pro
Adobe Premiere Pro is a professional video editing program that can be used to edit videos with the exact amount of precision you desire. Think of this program as a more advanced version of iMovie.

Adobe After Effects
Adobe After Effects is essentially the video equivalent of Photoshop. With After Effects, you can create original video effects, or replicate some of the VFX that you have seen in movies or TV shows.

If you want to create a video that uses animation, Adobe Animate is an excellent program to use. With this program, you can design animations that can be incorporated into your video projects with ease.
